A Rainy Elopement in Winter Park, FL

January 31, 2024 | Orlando Elopement Photographer

My mom has always told me, “Don’t fret if it rains on your wedding day, Kelly. It’s good luck!” I think she believes this because her own wedding day was rainy and full of love. After photographing Laeticia and Grant’s rainy day elopement ceremony in Winter Park, FL – I can confidently say my mom was right.

Planning Their Elopement Photography

Laeticia and I met via Instagram. She reached out to ask me to be her elopement photographer. She and her (now husband) Grant decided to spontaneously get married the following week. There was no time to wait for these lovebirds.

They were getting married at the Winter Park Courthouse. Despite being a spontaneous elopement, Laeticia is a woman who knows what she wants. (Which I love!) She had a very precise idea of how she wanted to remember her wedding day. She wanted a classic aesthetic to her elopement photos – mostly black and white, very editorial, and in a city setting with interesting architecture as a background.

We were a perfect match!

Bringing Guests to Your Courthouse Wedding

It was pouring the day of Laeticia and Grant’s elopement. During the courthouse ceremony, a handful of family and friends joined the couple to cheer them on. The couple were radiating joy and love as they said their I Dos. Afterward, we stole a few romantic photos with the couple (and my handy umbrella) in the rain.

The original plan was to step over to Rollins College, a campus known for its grand architecture, for an intimate photoshoot with just them two. However, it was raining too hard by that point. We didn’t want to ruin the bride’s dress.

I couldn’t let their fairytale elopement story end like that. So, I met the couple two days later on a much sunnier day. The couple donned their wedding attire one more time to steal the romantic wedding photoshoot they deserved.

Elopement Photographer – From Winter Park to Orlando

Overall, the rain created a few magical photographs for this couple and a reason to wear their wedding attire twice. Lucky, indeed. I wish Laeticia and Grant a long and happy new chapter. They’re a testament that just because you decide to elope, doesn’t mean you should miss out on capturing every fun, wet, beautiful moment of your big day.
