I’m often asked if older siblings can be in newborn photos with mom and dad. The answer is always yes, but this newborn family photoshoot was too sweet to keep to myself! Meet Jackson, mom, dad, and his two adorable “big” sisters. We recently did a newborn photoshoot at their home in Orlando, FL.

Including Older Siblings in your Newborn Photos

From the moment I got there, Jackson’s big sisters were completely ready to direct the session. They took me on a tour of the house (with extra emphasis on their room and toys) until we got to the baby’s nursery. It was the perfect setting for their at home newborn photos! The room was charming and had a beautiful soft light filtering through the window. There was a comfortable nursing glider in it and enough room for big sisters to stay and watch the session. I often like to do in-home newborn photos in the nursery because it’s only a nursery for a short period. Taking pictures of it helps preserve the memories long after it’s recorded for the toddler years and beyond.

A Benefit of In-Home Photos is going Outside

We started by taking photos with mom and baby in the nursery. It allowed us to get a glimpse of their clear bond while sneaking in some photos of Jackson’s sisters looking lovingly at him. (My heart was melting!) Once we got some photos, we took the whole family out to the yard to let the girls run around and capture the family in their favorite place. Everyone was included and Jackson even broke out a few smiles as he felt the sun’s rays on his skin. Then soft smiles turned into full-on baby giggles as dad started rocking him back and forth.
