Kyle and Brittany are good friends of mine. They moved to Orlando a few months ago, and we quickly recognized each other as kindred adventurous spirits. So, when they got engaged, I knew we had to put a fun spin on their engagement session.

The spin came in the form of a motorcycle. Kyle’s motorcycle.

Planning the Perfect Session

Brittany and Kyle are a dynamic, fun couple whose idea of a good time is cruising Orlando’s streets on Kyle’s motorcycle. So, I wasn’t fully surprised when Brittany told me she wanted to incorporate the motorcycle into their engagement session. (I was thrilled, actually!)

She sent me several reference pictures to understand the aesthetic they were after. Many of the photos were of long roads with horizons and mountains in the background. (It’s a bit hard to find mountains in Orlando!) But I figured a long empty road with a flat horizon could have the same “wow” effect as the landscapes she showed me.

After a few days of research, I came across the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. It was perfect!

Did I say the couple was adventurous? I meant brave. They agreed to wake up before 5:30 am, on a weekend, to trek 30 minutes from Orlando to Lake Apooka, FL. We wanted to beat the Florida heat for their photo shoot. This also allowed us to get the best backlighting, avoid park visitors, and create beautiful, cinematic photos. The entire session only took 30 minutes, but it was perfect.

From Engagement to Wedding Day

A few months after their engagement session, Kyle and Brittany got married in the gorgeous Mayan Chapel that’s part of the Maitland Art and History Museums. (See more of the chapel here!) It was a beautiful ceremony, and I’m so happy my friends enjoyed their special day.
